Current

Making Room, SLAM and Drawing Room Artist Project (March 2024- March 2026)

Community Learning Lecturer, Morley College (since 2019)

My work in textiles and film exists across exhibition, learning and community contexts. In this cross- disciplinary practice there is an ongoing exploration of analogue technologies, which consciously resist digitization. Interested in the discourse between textiles and film and how one process can translate into the other, blurring the relationship between tactile and filmic space. The work steers away from a linear narrative in favour of a poetic and tactile exploration of how we record emotional feelings, exploring themes of architecture and the body through concepts of construction, destruction and repair.

Sharing practice is critical to my work. In the studio I work in drawing, textiles, creative writing and film. Here it is important that the materials I use are accessible and therefore transferable to others, both economically and conceptually. The studio is a space for hands on making, discovery and not knowing, which is directly transferred to my work with marginalised communities that explores methods of making together. The time- based and repetitive nature of studio processes opening up space for conversation, reflection and mindfulness, which itself becomes a creative tool.
